The Fairview Bass Lake Clinic has recently been awarded LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED is USGBC’s innovative system for designing and constructing the world’s greenest, most energy efficient and high performing buildings.
Harriss Architects played a key role in the design of the project, as well as in the LEED process leadership and management. "Harriss Architects was ready, willing and able to plan and implement the USGBC LEED certification process when others said it would be costly and likely unsuccessful, particularly with a medical facility.” said Ray Piirainen, Director of Real Estate for Fairview Health Services.
LEED Certification of the Fairview Bass Lake Clinic was based on a number of green design and construction features that positively impact the project itself, and the broader community. These features include: energy efficient HVAC and electrical systems, white reflective roofing system, water conserving plumbing system, and finishes with high recycled content and low VOCs (volatile organic compounds). |
